SUMMARY
The Human Resources Director provides leadership and support for Lumen Field, a fast-paced, high-profile professional sports stadium and multi-purpose facility. This role supports an environment that includes NFL & MLS operations, stadium operations, concerts, international sporting events, private events and year-round business functions.    
In collaboration with the Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) and the Managing Director of Human Resources the primary responsibilities include employee and labor relations, union partnership and CBA administration, workplace investigations, performance management, employee coaching and counseling, talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, training initiatives, employee engagement, policy development, employee records, compliance and workplace safety. The Human Resources Director serves as a trusted advisor, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion and operational excellence while supporting the organization's strategic business objectives and exceptional event experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Collaborate with the VP of HR and Managing Director of HR to create and implement HR strategies aligned with company objectives, encompassing workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent development and performance management
  • Collaborate to establish and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with labor laws, industry regulations and company values. Ensure fair and consistent application of policies throughout the organization
  • Serve as a resource to managers and employees on employee relations issues. Provide counseling and support to resolve issues, disputes and other sensitive matters
  • Oversee the organization’s relationships with multiple labor unions representing different segments of the workforce, including collaboration with union representatives on matters concerning policies, employee issues and concerns affecting union members. Serve as a lead participant in collective bargaining and contract negotiations across the various union agreements and engage with unions and their members to address grievances, disciplinary actions and policy discrepancies. Administer and interpret the terms of each collective bargaining agreement, ensure consistent application across the represented workforce and manage the grievance and arbitration process in partnership with HR Leadership and the Legal team
  • Partner with HR Leadership, the Legal team, and outside counsel on employment-related claims, charges and litigation, including responding to agency complaints and investigations (such as those from the EEOC, NLRB, and Washington State Department of Labor & Industries). Gather and preserve relevant documentation, coordinate position statements and discovery responses, serve as an HR representative, or witness as needed, and help identify and implement corrective actions to reduce future risk and exposure
  • Work with HR team to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, maintain accurate HR records and prepare required reports
  • Conduct workplace investigations. Collaborate closely with the VP of HR, Managing Director of HR and the Legal team on intricate and sensitive employee issues that arise during the investigation process
  • Assist with the creation and review of job descriptions for new positions and update existing job descriptions as needed
  • Partner with HR Leadership to establish and implement performance evaluations and development plans to foster employee growth and enhance productivity
  • Conduct performance counseling and disciplinary action; prepare employee separation notices and related documentation
  • Collaborate with HR team in elevating employee engagement and satisfaction by implementing impactful communication strategies, recognition programs and team-building activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of organization’s employee benefits
  • Direct and oversee Event Staff Training which includes policies, procedures, training content and presentation materials
  • Lead high-volume seasonal and event-day workforce planning, including recruitment, mass onboarding and offboarding of part-time and seasonal staff such as guest services, ushers, ticket takers, security, conversion, fields and parking personnel. Manage the cyclical ramp-up and ramp-down of the gameday and event workforce to ensure appropriate staffing levels for every home game, concert and special event held at the stadium
  • Provide on-site HR presence and support during home games and major events, when directed, serving as the primary point of contact for staff matters that arise during event operations. Work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to align HR coverage with the event calendar. Partner with Stadium Operations, Security and Event Management on day-of staffing, incident response and workforce communication
  • Communicate effectively at all levels within the organization with the ability to influence
  • Regularly engage in direct communication with the Stadium GM/VP and other directors on key human resources matters, implementations and directives
  • Contribute to and champion the organization’s DEI strategies and objectives. Play a pivotal role in supporting the development, rollout and successful implementation of DEI initiatives
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of new regulations, trends and laws impacting human resources
  • Provide leadership and support during organizational change and restructuring initiatives
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, responsibility and professionalism

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years’ related experience in Human Resources
  • Proven experience in HR management
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations and HR best practices
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate successfully at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with business objectives
  • Experience in talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations and organizational development
  • Familiarity with HR systems and data analytics to drive informed decision-making
  • Outstanding problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience with labor relations and collective bargaining across multiple unions in a unionized workforce
  • Experience managing vendor and contractor relationships and co-employment considerations is a plus
  • Experience partnering with legal counsel on employment-related claims, agency charges and litigation, including responding to investigations and supporting risk mitigation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This role requires the ability to be present on-site at the stadium, including during home games and major events and to move throughout the facility, which may include stairs, ramps, concourses and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • The salary range for this position is: $135,000 – $155,000. The salary range applies to the current posting. The posted salary range may vary based on key factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related knowledge, experience and skill set.
