SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Food Services Manager and Head Chef, the prep cook / line cook will perform general food preparation within the kitchen, including chopping vegetables and fruits, preparing proteins and handling food storage. This position will help to maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Line cooks are responsible for prepping food at a fast rate and keeping the kitchen clean and operational
  • Assist with peeling fruit, prepping vegetable, clean/trim proteins and prepare sauces
  • Stock each station with fresh ingredients to keep inventory full for all service times
  • Must ensure and maintain safety of food prep such as making sure all food is up to temperature as well as cooled in a timely manner. Properly rotate food with use by dates
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes including: measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
  • Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, etc.
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area including personal hygiene, handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain sanitation standards
  • Follow directions from supervisors (Head Chef and Shift Supervisor)

Required: 
  • Food Handlers permit required
  • Understanding of basic kitchen sanitation
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
  • Perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time
  • Strong critical thinking and time management skills
Preferred:
  • No experience is required but professional kitchen experience is welcomed (we provide training as needed) 
  • Knife skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The hourly rate for this position is: $25.50
The hourly range applies to the current posting. The posted hourly range may vary based on key factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related knowledge, experience and skill set.
